edamo- good comments & thanks Ed, my goal is capital growth & appreciation. Of course I prefer that to happen in the shortest realistic time frame rather than excessively slowly. I'm still learning and although I believe in buying & holding for the long term if & when that is the best route- and is seems to be that way most usually, I have missed outstanding opportunities to sell certain issues such as AOL at their peak (such as the recent rise to 175) and re-buy at the incredible dip (the dips to the 117 range) that even after taking short term capital gains tax into account would have been sublimely profitable & so in my current frame of mind I am not closing the door to a mixture of holding and trading at times. Disclosure: I am long AOL, Dell, CSCO, MSFT, BRCM, and WWWFX Lisette
