There is no way that the market makers can manipulate a stock as liquid as DELL. There are over 60 different firms making a market in DELL, and to think that all of these market makers are colluding exhibits a lack of knowledge about the Nasdaq market. Two of the top 10 market makers in DELL are also electronic market makers, meaning that 100% of that volume is customer driven, not market maker driven. Additionally, the #1 market maker, Mayer & Schweitzer, spends almost all of its time filling electronic orders for Schwab, also 100% customer orders.

Market maker manipulation occurs, yes, but you need to look away from active stocks like DELL in order to find it.
