Dell ALWAYS had a price premium over Packard Bell. I just don't get it!

Amazon.com Cuts Prices - 10:30 AM EST - TK
Amazon.com price cuts on NY Times bestsellers were matched by both
Borders.com and BarnesandNoble.com. I am perplexed on why they started this
price war. The potential volume growth will in no way make up for the profits lost
from the lower prices. And since competitors matched the cuts, what did
Amazon.com gain? Amazon.com should focus on what they do best, customer
service, ease-of-ease, and convenience.

Rival online booksellers barnesandnoble.com (NYSE:BKS - news) and Borders.com
(NYSE:BGP - news) on Monday slashed prices on all books on the New York Times
bestsellers list, matching a move made earlier in the day by No. 1 online retailer Amazon.com
Inc. (Nasdaq:AMZN - news). Both barnesandnoble.com and Borders.com said they would cut
prices up to 50 percent on every book listed on the Times bestseller list, which is divided into
three categories: fiction, nonfiction and advice/how-to/miscellaneous. - Reuters
