Could it be that Shell Refining has some operations in overseas areas where government gas price controls are in effect thereby holding down the pump prices while crude costs have gone up? Or do they have some weird forward price guarantee that they extend to their retailers?

Otherwise Ron is right: Prices here in AZ are higher than ever before and yet crude is still well under its previous highs.

Shell's story seems suspiciously like a smoke screen for something else.

... help, I can't make any money at those prices, you've got to drop the price of crude .... waaaaaa.... whine ... wail ...

... or , boy are we screwed up around here, what can we blame this mess on?
