Brazil raises R$ 30.5bn with telecom privatization Rio de Janeiro, 18 - The president of the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel), Renato Guerreiro, said this Tuesday that Brazil has already raised a total of R$ 30.5bn with the privatization of telecom companies. Guerreiro estimates that Brazil should have 33 million telephones by the year 2001. He also believes that, as a result of competitiveness, phone fees should be lower than the estimated in concession contracts signed with operating companies.
