Chris, GM's promotion strategy was primarily aimed at the carriers,
not the average consumer. Portico users from the reseller route
were more of a trial, to help refine the service.
I feel that GMGC is counting on the carriers
to promote the value of Portico. GMGC should focus its energy
on improving the service, working with carriers to carry the service
and work with internet content providers to make Portico a true
vcommerce interface. The carriers are much better at convincing
the average consumer that they need this service. And with all
the extra minutes the avergae user will rack up, its a big incentive
to the carriers to promote it.
