Well, THAT's what most like to think and most hope for in real time. However, its never THE rule. And, I am guessing that alot of expectations in "gap ups" have been increased via the recent capabilities to invest over the Internet as we are doing these days and in relying on information found on the Internet. I believe, sincerely, that the market makers have caught onto the expectations of investors and traders recently and have caught many an investor or trader with their "skirts or pants" down hoping for big gaps at open.

So, I do not rely on them as much any more, yet I do find it very concieveable in many instances to expect those gaps. I notice the larger gaps up appear in biotechs with some miracle drug with tv or media exposure like GERN and ENMD recently.

Be real careful investing or trading on gaps. The market makers who read these threads find out what the market sentiment is for many stocks with news and can "sucker rally" you into believing its for real.

Hope that helps....just one person's opinion and by the way, I have only been trading about 5 years. Just a neophyte.

Jane
