John: IMO, the stocks you mentioned (INTC and MSFT) will not deliver a superior return vs. DELL in the next 3-5 years. DELL is starting to mature and it most likely will deliver "Microsoft-like returns" going forward. DELL is growing sales and earnings faster than INTC, CSCO, and MSFT. DELL's market cap. is much lower than those blue chip tech powerhouses. Yet, DELL has performed SO WELL in the last 3 years that it finally is having to deal with an expectations game. The expectations are coming DOWN -- slowly but surely. And DELL is growing into its valuation. Many of us hoped that this would not happen so soon BUT we must be realistic. Yet, DELL's business model, talent, culture, internet efficiencies and innovation will allow it to deliver outstanding returns to investors for years to come. Just don't expect a return of quite a few hundred percent each year. IMO, DELL will most likely deliver 50-100% total returns to investors for the next few years (and so will a few of the other leading blue chip tech stocks). I am only holding ONE large cap tech stock going forward and it will be DELL. All of my other holdings are young internut plays -- with very different growth prospects and risk / reward trade-offs.
