I would say the trickiest part is the part you can't see, all the hidden agendas.
I sublet my office space from a guy whose son buys a lot of property at foreclosures, fixes them up, and sells them for a nice profit. He said the first one he went to, a guy came up to him, and said, "drop out." He said, "what??!!!" The guy says, "drop out. Meet us in the cafeteria after the sale." So he quit bidding, and the property went for a few thousand less than he was willing to pay. After the sale, all the people who were bidding met up at the cafeteria, and the person who really wanted the property paid the guy who won the bid, and the rest of them split the difference.
The auction on the property I want is set for 4:00 p.m., which is when the courthouse closes. I wonder if that's why. |
