Re: Gartner Group Report

Mike Buckley,
I'm confused about the Java comments at the bottom of the article. I understand the deployment of Citrix as an operating system/thin-client solution. But Java is not exactly an operating system. You don't, "deploy," Java the way you do MetaFrame.

An enterprise IT manager, as a target for their survey, can say, "Today, let's load MetaFrame and deploy PeopleSoft to all our employees." But an IT manager can't deploy Java in the same way. It's not an apples to apples comparison.

They both are server-centric solutions, but are not comparable the way the article implies. I think I know what the article is implying, but it is a MAJOR stretch to do the type of comparison (CTXS vs. Java) they are doing.

Personally, I don't think Java is that great of a server-centric solution (for the two major reasons I previously stated). I think a lot of investor didn't really understand how Java and Citrix were related in their server-centric goals. That was the point I was trying to really get across.

Well am I missing something else? Or is the comparison in the article not a good one?
Thanks for the article,
MikeM(From Florida)
