ROY, Utah--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 22, 1996--Iomega Corporation (NASDAQ:IOMG) today announced that The Acer Group plans to include the Zip drive as a storage device in the company's innovative new PC Line, AcerBasic(TM) to be officially launched in June and sell for $500 (U.S.). Iomega's Zip drive and disks provide more than 70 times the capacity of today's floppy disks, giving consumers unlimited capacity, increased flexibility, and a built-in back-up system. Iomega's Zip Tools software is also included with the drive, making it easy for consumers to manage, share and save their information. The AcerBasic line is based on mainstream PC technology. The standard CPU is a 5x86 chip, packaged with 4MB of memory and a 100MB removable storage Zip drive. Software includes DOS, Windows 3.1, an Internet browser package, and several game and education programs. Though fully capable of being connected to standard VGA computer monitors, the AcerBasic offers added benefits to home users with its ability to connect directly to any standard television set.
