One thing you have to remember about the short interest link you posted... even though the page says "(Last Updated: 18 May 99 08:59 PM EDT)" it uses data collected on April 15... 5 weeks ago, so its relevance is somewhat murky. Someone short at that time who is still short is likely still profitable and not as affected by a squeeze.
