New Tellabs VERITY(TM) 3300 Voice Quality Enhancement System Helps Service Providers Improve Voice Quality, Network Efficiency

May 19, 1999 08:06 AM
LISLE, Ill., May 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Tellabs TLAB today announced a new voice quality enhancement system, which helps wireless and long-distance carriers greatly improve voice quality and network efficiency.
The new VERITY 3300 DS3 broadband echo canceller and voice quality enhancement system is the first product introduced in Tellabs' new VERITY family of voice quality enhancement solutions.

The VERITY 3300 system is a high-density, low-power system providing Tellabs' next-generation echo canceller technology and voice band enhancements (VBE) at a standard DS3 (45 Mbps) interface. The 3300 system increases the efficiencies of cabling, power distribution and set-up while putting more channels of echo cancellation in the same amount of space previously needed. This system improves network reliability by offering full redundancy on both DS3 interfaces, system control and echo canceller modules (ECMs).

"The features in the VERITY 3300 broadband system ensure that our customers, both wireless and long-distance carriers, will improve the voice quality in their networks," said David Power, vice president and general manager of the Network Enhancing Technologies Solutions Division at Tellabs. "As increasing traffic drives customers to migrate from T1 to DS3 solutions, Tellabs' new 3300 system will improve their network efficiency, reduce cabling costs, and provide enhanced performance monitoring."

The new VERITY 3300 system uses Tellabs' latest generation echo cancellation technology, which guarantees service providers the highest voice quality available today. It also supports the VERITY family of call quality enhancements, including Tellabs Level Control (TLC), Tellabs Acoustic Control (TAC) and Tellabs Noise Reduction (TNR), for exceptional sound quality. The 3300 system will be available in the fourth calendar quarter of 1999.

The VERITY 3300 system will be controlled through the Tel/mor(TM) Element Management System (EMS). Tel/mor EMS acts like a team of network professionals, maintaining configuration files, reporting and logging alarms, and offering remote control of the VERITY 3300 system. The Tel/mor EMS is a full-screen, Windows-based graphical user interface (GUI) tool.

This addition to Tellabs' leading line of VERITY voice quality enhancement solutions will be featured June 8-10 at the Supercomm '99 trade show in Atlanta, Ga. Tellabs will be exhibiting in Booth #2825 at the Georgia World Congress Center.

Tellabs is recognized throughout the communications industry as a pioneer and leader in the development of sophisticated echo cancellation and speech processing technology. For more than 20 years, Tellabs echo cancellers have helped service providers bring superior call quality to both wireline and wireless environments.

Tellabs designs, manufactures, markets and services voice and data transport and network access systems. The company's products are used worldwide by the providers of communications services. Tellabs stock is listed on the Nasdaq Stock Market (TLAB).
