CONCORD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 10, 1997--In light of the unusual trading activity in GenRad's common stock today, GenRad Inc. (NYSE:
GEN) reconfirmed its full-year 1997 analysts' estimates of $220 to $240 million in revenue and earnings of approximately $1.25 (plus a deferred tax adjustment).
GenRad also confirmed that it is not aware of any unusual corporate developments.

James F. Lyons, president and chief executive officer commented on today's market activity, "We continue to manage the company to meet the full-year 1997
earnings analyst estimates. We are encouraged by the sales and order activity from both our Electronic Manufacturing Systems and Advanced Diagnostic Solutions
businesses and fully expect to continue the year with the same momentum as ended the 1996 fiscal year."

Analysts have been guided to first quarter earnings of between $.20 to $.25 (excluding one-time charges) due to increased selling, general and marketing expenses
expected to be incurred only in GenRad's first quarter of 1997. Anaylsts continue to be guided to revenue targets of $48-50M for the first quarter of 1997.
