James and all... a couple of months back I had the unique opportunity to speak to a network specialist at PacBell about ADSL. If what he told me is any indication of things to come, ADSL will quickly become a leading method of high-speed access to the Internet.

The reasons for this are many, but first and formost, ADSL will work with ISDN, and secondly, ADSL will not have (hopefully) the compatibility and will not have the configuration problems ISDN has endured. Yet the most provocative reason for ADSL's future popularity should be that the telcos will employ somthing few companies do well... Marketing!

The telcos need something to offset the onslaught from cable companies and others, and for the short term ADSL most likley will be the technology. I'm betting on it.
