My point was to demonstrate that CSCO's decision to terminate development on the TGX (ATM-IP switch) might have been a calculated strategic decision to shift the market. This goes back to my comment
earlier about changing the playing field.

I have a qualm about this statement. Cisco has said, time and time again, that it will not decide where technology is going. It will take what the customers want and provide them with the solution. Perhaps this is what you were referring to with this statement, but at first glance, it appears that you are stating that CSCO is now deciding where technology is going. Similarly, I listened to the Q&A last night from the CC and I did pick up the comment by JC in which he said they halted the development of the switch (TGX, right?) after talking to their customers and sensing that maybe that wasn't what they wanted.

Anyway, keep up the posts!!

A so-so day today in SLO, a little cloudy ;)
