DJ MediaOne Group To Launch Road Runner Svc In L.A. May 20

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- MediaOne Group Inc. (UMG) will launch its MediaOne Road Runner broadband Internet content delivery service in Los Angeles on May 20.
As reported April 14, MediaOne Group's (UMG) MediaOne Express unit will become MediaOne Road Runner, a unit of its ServiceCo LLC venture, in the second quarter.
In a press release Wednesday, Media One said Los Angeles residents will be the first to receive the Road Runner service, which is being rolled out across the country during the second half of the year.
MediaOne said the changeover is the final step in transitioning the online service to the ServiceCo joint venture formed in June between MediaOne Group, Time Warner Inc. (TWX), Microsoft Corp. (MSFT), Compaq Computer Corp. (CPQ) and Advance/Newhouse.
Media One is a broadband communications provider.
