"the ability to raise any amount of money..." most forget of that capability that the ibm class companies have...no need for totally creative financing that the i-nets attempt....

i believe we are entering an era of consolidation, but it is looking as not pure industry consolidation as in the past...it will all evolve in the tech sectors around data and voice communication...the old fashion telephone provider is done...look at msft with telecom and xrx recent moves, aol/netscape maybe sunw posturing for its niche,t,and the cables a company can no longer have "one purpose"....kinda like an integrated conglomerate entity....

listening to gerstners recent comments and their polite but backhanded slap at companies as dell, indicates the massive designs he has for ibm growth...and the market is cheering him on...
