How about this for a split play-

Sell half your shares on the day the shares split. Your broker will record the sale at the split adjusted price, but will not record the sale until it "clears" a few days later.

Presto-chango, your 10-99 form will show you took a 50% loss. Pretty nifty tax advantage! (In other words, I did this when LU split, and it screwed up my taxes to no end, trying to get it straight!)

Sheesh. Buy and hold the big blue supertanker.
