Market Makers have the option of passing on "all or none" from my experience. I hate to say it but I sometimes use market orders on ultra liquid stocks like AGRS with much success. I have had bad experiences too but the feeling of chasing a stock leaves you empty handed a lot of times. I missed AGRS all day yesterday by chasing and double guessing myself and rationalizing how I shouldn't buy something that has gone up 3-4-5-6 times where people bought it. The good news is that there is always another good one waiting. Good luck.
