LSI Logic Corp. has quietly shifted all of its engineering resourcesfrom its chipset line based on the GSM
digital cellular standardand moved them to efforts to build around the competing CDMA protocol.

Recently, Milpitas, Calif.-based LSI shut down its Israel design center that was developing its GSM chipset
line, and moved the operation to San Diego. "We're still supporting GSM," said an LSI spokesman, "but
we've turned our attention over to CDMA."
