As I had alredy said, I agree that a long position in a growth stock like DELL is indeed speculative. But it is not a ticking time bomb like options. Nor is it a position with unbounded liability as a short position is. Hence, in balance, it is less speculative that long puts/short equity. At least IMHO.

As for what risk a businessman should take, let's agree to disagree?
