Dave,

You bring up an excellent point. Based on your discussions I
ordered Catalyst Semiconductor and it just arrived on my desk two
days ago and I haven't had time to look at it yet. However, the
same is true for Catalyst when the pricing comes down in flash unless
their product is superior in some way to other flash products. Since
I haven't taken a look at their flash products yet I do not know what
to tell you yet. However pricing is expected to be good for flash for
1996 which probably makes Catalyst a good spec based on this trend. Flash
sales growth is good. As the prices come down it continues to eat away at
the EPROM market. Many believe flash will eventually replace all EPROM
sales (I highly doubt this will be the case). The problem though long
term is that the largest producers of flash are Intel, AMD, Atmel and some
other Japanese companies (and they are large and they are not fabless).
Another flash play is Silicon Storage Technology, Inc.- SSTI - and they
just came public two weeks ago. Unfortunately they are fabless too.
Sorry I couldn't be o more help. If I can get to it soon I'll do my best
to tell you what I think.
