BS,,, The west could out borrow Russia, and did so in a foolish arms race that the Russians could not afford... I believe that it even brought the west close to a downfall, but we squeaked through.. Mostly because we were much richer to begin with, but a good credit rating helped a lot...I believe that we still have a few triliion dollar debt....Deficits skyrocketed through those years....

Now Nato is working on reaping the spoils of victory....
