>> Or did they intend to mislead for a day or so.<<
No doubt in my mind that this is the case. The news is old, it is immaterial, it pertains to only one officer currently employed at Pairgain, and his only culpability was his gullibility. As they said, "we were swindled, now WE'RE the ones being investigated?!"
Also, Pier One -- the other company that entrusted its funds to the shyster Goldinger -- was up 7% today.
As to who is behind this disinformation campaign ( I say "campaign" since there were multiple sources and multiple misrepresentations--both as to the significance of this investigation and as regards Pairgain being "cash-strapped" when anyone who cares to look can see they are financially rock-solid), I don't know. I don't blame the reporters, since they are just kids out of college with no idea how the world works, but I despise the news organizations that have demeaned journalism to this level. If they would pay real money to journalists, the profession would not consist of clueless twenty-somethings.
Ok, I admit it--I'm a frustrated ex-journalist. (Also a frustrated PAIR investor, but that goes without saying). |
