"I assume they mean three of the top five in sales."
I sure hope so! Would hate for them to announce a win with "Jimmy's Excellent Computers" with Ballard taling about how they are "tops among the boxmakers with regard to setup documentation :)
"NVIDIA could be that company as it appears to be distancing itself from competitors such as ATI, S3, and 3dfx."
WTF? This implies that they have a lead which they are increasing..."closing the gap" may be more accurate. MAY be more accurate. NVDA is doing a great job, but ATI is still dominant in OEM boxes, and TDFX at retail...and TNT2's feature set seems to be short of the Savage4, and speedwise it is slower than V3...still a great chip, but I can see the author doing the "research": "Ok, TNT2 is competing against that hot name, 3dfx...and LOOK AT THIS! They have 32bits and TDFX only has 16 bits! WOW! Thats twice as many bits! With all of those bits, NVDA must really be on the ball! Geez, that's a whole lot of bits! A coupla bytes of bits! An "outperform" number of bits!"
Regarding Shopper.com: the best seller list is based on hits, not sales. You'll notice that V3 is available for sale all over, yet the TNT2 is not. Still, this is a good indicator of interest in a product.
Didn't buy any more TDFX yesterday, as I was too busy to get really involved. 16-20+ is an interesting couple of days. As Homer Simpson might say, "Stock goes up. Stock goes down. Stock goes up. Stock goes down..."
V3 3500 appears to have some genuine potential as a video capture board. Perhaps TDFX will make a bundle targeted towards this market with Adobe or Ulead...the breakout box is great. Looking forward to picking one up.
One of my boxes has a DIMD Fusion in it. I am building a site with NetObjects Fusion4...and guess what? Fusion won't run on a Fusion...the only cards F4 won't run on are DIMD Monster boards... ---------------OT------------
Anybody else in DELL? Oy!...and why the hell did I sell NETA at 12? |
