Intel surely makes things more difficult but impossible ... no. The rewards for success under the present ciurcumstances are so enormous that even a modicum of success will be richly rewarded.

The supposed inverse relationship is superceded by a reality that says AMD could make more money if it did a better job. And the same is also true for Intel.

Hard work is generally rewarded. If you need to find an inverse relationship, center on that simple concept.
