I like the irony of the Makahs receiving death threats from people who believe that whales are too noble to be killed. It continues to astound me that there are people who, apparently completely ignorant of the inherent contradiction, can use violence as a prod to try to get someone else to walk the road that leads to their state of enlightenment. I guess enlightenment is too easy to gain, or at least too easy to claim. It's getting to be a bad neighborhood. I think the slogan of the moment should be "Hate those who practice hate." Or maybe "Whales are cuter than your pathetic attempt to regain your lost heritage." -BLT
