Neocon, yes, by money I mean(t) exchange value. What is being exchanged is real things. [And derivatives of real things.] This Exchange has systems supporting it. Theoretical economics, markets, ...,the list is enormous. These tools, techniques, and theories have become very sophisticated. And they all concern real things. My interest, my observation, is that nothing similar exists for the unreal: the spiritual, the values, .... Tentatively, since last post, I would suggest conversation [or such medium of exchange of ideas] might be in some way, the medium of exchange for this unreal realm, analogous to money for the realm of the real.
Going a level better you refine the expression of value exchange as a whole, who's two complete parts are desires [of consumers =?= listeners] and incentives [to producers =?= speakers]. {Obviously, my analogy is already on shaky ground.}
<It has only tangentially to do with moral or aesthetic valuation, which is mainly expressed as a hierarchy of goods.> There is a recognized effect from the real realm to the unreal realm, noticed mainly by the unreal dwellers, it seems, but, for my money, this is side effect, not integral, and comes from the difference in development of the two realms. Hierarchy of goods: lost me, perhaps since I've already dismissed the issue as internal to the real realm, or to a place the unreal has not yet achieved.
Determining an absolute value of any particular real item, lies in the realm of the unreal. It is not a real realm question at all.
PS: Every time you write, exchange- value, with a space. Rather than exchange-value. I've never seen this convention. Is it purposeful? |
