Old Growth, Whales, Culture...and a bunch
of stuff you would expect from a graveyard
worker at the end of his shift;-)

The culture in which I would most like to play
a part would be the one where people protect
those things that are rare and wonderful. The
occasional patch of old growth forest would
certainly be on my list.

Rare wildlife--I am pretty sure that the mass of human
flesh on the planet far outweighs all the other animal
flesh (excluding domestic animals--for instance, you have
to throw out cattle). Everything is rare compared to us!
We have all the other species so outnumbered--and I guess
that's your answer right there: Don't kill things you wildly
outnumber, just a good policy I think.

Humans have been so successful at overrunning the planet,
I suspect a nasty virus will someday take most of us out.
Kinda hope it does not happen in my lifetime however!

The dinosaurs were incredibly successful too--but things
change. For now, humans can revel in the knowledge that
we are most certainly the cleverest thing within 100
light years, and we have made remarkable progress in
understanding the nature of the universe in just a
few hundred years. And yet, I also take comfort in the
fact that in a million years from now, there will hardly
be a trace that we were even here.

Humans are damn interesting, but we are smaller than
whales--and we certainly don't take up much space in
the universe.
