You know, I swore to myself that I was going to stop picking on you, but...
--is this what you call an apology, or just drivel?

Most of my responses are at least somewhat tangential; everything makes me think of something more. There's too little time and too many things to think about. But at least I generally make sense.
--It is rude to trample a thread with unrelated postings. There are many ways not to: Post at the message list. Find a dead or dying thread on this forum. Find another forum. Start a forum. I feel I've put the time into building a ship in a bottle, and just as it is coming together, you come shake it. Making sense isn't the issue.
--Posting is an odd conversation. It has a learning curve both steep and long. If you allow yourself the self-indulgence of tangential habits, you will have compromised your integrity, driven away those who would reply, and created nothing positive. There wil be time to express all important ideas.
--The "respond" button means just that. It especially does not mean pay Me some attention.

It's funny to me, and probably significant, that the fact that I dispute what you say means to you that I "have assumed the role of champion for him (your father) and his generation." I mean, when a 35 year old can seem that powerful and mature and immovable to you, well...

--to me, it is simply stale ideas. Maybe a new sprig of mint, but ideas as worthless in their expression now as in their creation then. So, too is racism a stale idea, but it can still generate a lot of foam and fury; you just happened to force feed me the wrong stale idea in a very ugly way.
