no, not all trades are real. here's how it works. the market is let's say .35-.40. a brokerage house gets a market order to buy 10 000 at the market. the trader calls up the mm and says "i'll buy 10 000 shares at .38"...the mm says "10 000 to you at .38"....now the mm prints (the seller always prints the trade even if they are not the mm) the trade at .38...the trader who has the order then prints it at .40....so you see what happened? the trader with the order buys it at .38 and sells it to his/her order at .40...hence a double print on the same order. now, this doesn't mean that when a stock is .35-.40 you should put your order to buy at .38 because most mm's won't even make the call...they will tuck it away in their tickets...that;s why they miss your orders occasionally. now, if they happen yto notice it is now .34-.37 they will call the mm and buy it at .37 and ask him/her to get out of the way , and then print it to you at .38 and take the penny. if you give them an offer in between the market they will not make a call for you...it will be tucked away unless it is a hot hot stock. they won't even bother because the mm's never buy in between the market (unless they are short and desperate). thiese things of course don't happen at the sprotts, (believe it or not yorkton) ...but happens practically everywhere...it's how the mm's make their money...let's just equate it to the juice you pay the bookie.
