But how much appeal does AOL's content really have? I mean, most people get AOL as their first ISP because JB2: I agree with you that a lot of "experienced" internet users gravitate to cheaper access but AOL is # 1 due to community. Beginners go to where their friends are. With over 18 million subscribers, AOL dwarfs any other ISP. I don't think the majority of people currently going online or longtime users would be considered "internet savvy users". I saw the figures within the last couple of days on how many people pay for AOL through the bring your own access program ($9.95/month). It was surprisingly large.
