7 People won't die if you hook-up a gigamux to a fiber line. Trust me most upgrades don't take that long to test after they're designed & produced. Flight qualification was relatively short once they made the new "o" rings for the solids on the shuttles and certainly less than 18 months. Isn't gigamux already "certified"?

Believe what you want, I just doubt that it would take a profit driven company that long to effectively test out this system if they were interested in bandwidth increase which spell more profits.
