Cable '99 Turns to Streaming Media to Expand Convention Attendance Jump to first matched term
INTERVU Selected by the National Cable Television Association as the Official Webcaster for Cable '99
SAN DIEGO, May 20 /PRNewswire/ -- INTERVU Inc. (Nasdaq: ITVU), the leading service provider of Internet video delivery solutions, today announced that it has been selected by the National Cable Television Association (NCTA) as the official Webcaster for Cable '99.
Cable '99, the world's largest convention for the cable television industry, will take place in Chicago, Illinois from June 13-16. For the first time in the convention's 48 years, Cable '99 will be Webcast live over the Internet. INTERVU was chosen by NCTA over seven other Internet broadcasters to provide all of the video and audio content management and delivery services for the live Webcasts and video and audio on-demand services associated with Cable '99.
For those who would like to keep up with the developments at Cable '99 in real time but cannot attend, INTERVU will Webcast four general sessions live from the show floor to Cable '99's Web site, located at www.cable99.com . The general sessions will include a keynote address from C. Michael Armstrong, AT&T's Chairman & CEO and other panel discussions with distinguished guests including CNN's Lou Dobbs, Time Warner's Chairman & CEO, Gerald Levin, and Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, from Vulcan Northwest, Inc.
NCTA and INTERVU will also provide Internet viewers with the "Cable '99 Internet Channel" through the INTERVU AUDIENCE(TM) solution. AUDIENCE provides Web site owners with an easy-to-use, comprehensive solution for bringing people to live events. The service includes an automated e-mail ticketing function and generates a desktop reminder for ticketed users before the requested event. To receive free event tickets to Cable '99's live Webcasts, viewers can download the AUDIENCE Cable '99 Internet channel as early as Friday, May 21, from both Cable '99's Web site (www.cable99.com) and INTERVU's Web site (www.intervu.net).
In addition to the general session Webcasts, INTERVU will manage and deliver six panel sessions from the conference to the Cable '99 Web site, which will be aired as fifteen-minute audio-on-demand productions in conjunction with the INTERVU Presents broadcasting service. INTERVU Presents is an automated Internet broadcasting service that allows Microsoft Office 97 and Office 2000 users to schedule and broadcast live or on-demand audio and video presentations with synchronized Microsoft PowerPoint slides to select audiences around the world. With INTERVU Presents, Cable '99 Internet viewers will feel as though they are physically attending the conference.
"We selected INTERVU out of seven other premier Internet broadcasters because the company has the experience and capability to manage and deliver superb audio and video streaming technology," said Marc Nathanson, Chairman & CEO of Falcon Cable TV and Cable '99 Convention Committee Chairman. "We look forward to utilizing the visitor data procured through AUDIENCE to enhance our marketing efforts around this and future events. With the combination of both INTERVU Presents and AUDIENCE, INTERVU has the ideal streaming media solution for the convention industry."
"With many of our customers in the cable and broadcast television industry, we are extremely pleased that NCTA selected our services over the competition and look forward to helping them expand their reach through high-impact technologies over the Internet," said Ed Huguez, chief operating officer of INTERVU. "Thanks to NCTA, we have the opportunity to demonstrate how our streaming media services and solutions can empower the cable industry to stay competitive in this rapidly growing Internet market."
NCTA held a press conference today, May 20, on the Cable '99 convention that will be available for replay over the Internet from the Cable '99 Web site (www.cable99.com). INTERVU is also providing the on demand audio streaming services for this press conference.
