OTOT You make the common mistake of believing that because one questions the proliferation of guns that one favors making them illegal. There are many questions and approaches to explore before getting there. Can anyone tell me why anyone NEEDS a Saturday Night Special? Teflon coated bullets? Semi-automatic weapons? Look at what the availability of such weapons has done to our police forces. Swat teams instead of patrol officers. I'm a former prosecuting attorney and I have never met a single cop who does not favor some form of gun control. Even in the sleepy town of Hilo where I live, every cop wears body armor. What is the driving force behind this obsession with guns? We need to ask ourselves hard questions about why we as a culture continue to believe that guns are essential to our way of life (or death!). Aloha
