Probably a run-up in anticipation of the K7. I don't know what the Street is expecting, however, in terms of K7 performance, but even parity with the Pentium III would go a long way toward getting AMD out of the bargain-basement syndrome.

Next comes volume manufacturing and whether AMD can actually make the K7 in real quantities. Too many investors have been bitten by potential "Intel-killers" that just couldn't be manufactured consistently.
