The scoop from Q! on the thin phone. I just spoke with Andy in Q! phone sales and he says everyone should have the new thin phones by the end of June. Some should see them next week.

Unfortunately, their are no plans for a dual mode 1900 Mhz (Sprint network) thin phone. If you want dual mode Q!, you'll have to stick with the 2700.

There will be a dual mode 800 Mhz.

More general info below.

Thank you for your interest in QUALCOMM's CDMA digital wireless products.
QUALCOMM's CDMA digital Thin Phone is the industry's first ultra-thin CDMA data-ready wireless phone. The Thin Phone features an internal battery with hot-swappable external battery options and incorporates QUALCOMM's latest integrated CDMA Mobile Station Modem (MSM) chipset that in digital mode provides talk times of up to 2.5 hours or standby times of up to 3-4 days. The optional slim external battery extends these times to approximately 6 hours or up to 10 days, respectively, and the extended external battery increases these times even further. The Thin Phone is so thin and light less than three-fourths of an inch thick and weighing in at just over four ounces that it is as comfortable in your hand as it is in your pocket. QUALCOMM's Thin Phone and accessories are expected to begin shipping in the second quarter of 1999.
Initially, the new QUALCOMM Thin Phone will be available in two models: the QCP-860™, an 800 MHz dual-mode CDMA digital and analog cellular phone, and the QCP-1960™, a 1900 MHz single-mode digital PCS phone. Both support state-of-the-art pager, voice mail and data transfer features, and offer a number of elegant metallic color options in addition to black. (Availability of data services is service-provider dependent.)
Featuring a five-line, backlit LCD display and a customizable phone book with 99 memory locations, the QUALCOMM Thin Phone provides easy navigation through the user interface menu options via two smart keys located just below the display. The phone also includes 8 kbps and 13 kbps vocoders as well as the new Enhanced Variable Rate Codec (EVRC) which supports increased network capacity for the carrier while maintaining maximum voice quality for the end user. The hallmarks of every QUALCOMM CDMA digital phone include crystal clear voice quality, enhanced privacy and fewer dropped calls.
Data connectivity to a PC is available through QUALCOMM's optional Data Connectivity Kit's data cable, which allows users to download phone book information from their PC or any device connected to it, including a variety of personal digital assistants (PDAs), to the QUALCOMM Thin Phone's internal phone book memory. The Thin Phone will also support the new generation of wireless microbrowsers for Internet access.
QUALCOMM phones are available to consumers through authorized CDMA digital cellular and PCS service providers. Because the service providers implement the networks, they have current information regarding product and service availability, service plans, coverage areas, activation and other services offered. They also set their own final retail prices.
