Jim - re: It was due to the hiring of 1700 new employees in the quarter. Per Salomon report, new hires were actually down sharply, resulting in some of the decline in OPEX. They claim that 1100 of those employees were temps last quarter, so they were actually part of OPEX although not on the payroll. They claim actual new hires were only 600 as opposed to an average of more than 2000 per quarter in 1998. Based on that analysis, the GM decline was actually greater than reported and is not a 1-time event.
