The total volume yesterday, though it picked up at the end, was still very light. For Atmel to make a significant statement, volume needs to be above 4 million shares. I don't know why that's the magic number; historically, it has been. I've been watching and working this stock for a few years, even before I joined this chat group.

Each of the last few times it hit such volume it moved up a notch (to the 15 range, to the 17-18 range, to the low 20 range, including a new recovery high of 23 1/4). I think we're in a mid- to long-term upward move, but right now it's futzing around and will need something fundamental to break out. 2Q earnings are still two months away, and I don't believe it'll stay in the current range that long. But current volume is light, and people seem to be moving in and out short term. I'm still looking for 30 by 2Q report, and 40 sometime this year. If earnings improve as I believe they will (though I was disappointed with 1Q report), I see 80 or higher next year. How's that for a limb? bwdik. Cheers/t
