George, I was thinking of a more accurate example.
Two men walk by a church. The crowd attracts their attention. Each notice an inside emptiness. They return to their neighborhoods. The concrete founds a church. He is pleased with the similarity to his vision of people talking about people. The abstract founds a nightclub. He is pleased with the similarity to his vision of people in happy activity. The concrete wouldn't consider a bar to fit his requirements; the abstract thinks nothing of it.
Values restrict the possibilities that this basic understanding of reality presents. It is a different function, or axis, than the most basic seeing.
