Ornélas defends minimum age for retirement

Rio de Janeiro, 20 - Welfare minister, Walter Ornélas, said this Thursday at a forum
taking place in the National Development Bank (BNDES) that is he in favor that
minimum ages for concession of retirement pensions for time of contribution be fixed
at 60 for men and 55 for women in additional rules being prepared to the Social
Security reform.

Ornélas informed that Congress should receive complementary rules for the private
sector before the end of the first half of the year. Additional rules for the public sector
should be submitted to legislators by the second half of 1999. (By Gustavo Alves)
