mattie: That is why it makes sense to put your orders in at a limit in between the spread. Unless your order is 9500 shares (approximately - I don't remember the exact number) or more, the NASDAQ (but not OTC BB) market maker with your order has to move his market to reflect your bid or offer. Nowadays when I am doing bigger trades I often keep re-entering 9000 or so share orders to make sure it gets shown.
