You may be right, but now I'm a bit confused. How is a passive white curtain maintain an image longer than an active P34 screen? Also, my monitor runs at ~100 Hz refresh rate. How is this inferior to a sliding an image across the screen (which would be unrecognizable at the time) and keeping it there at the refresh rate of about 24 Hz?

My point about the distance was that the closer you are to an object, the more pronounced its graininess and jerkiness becomes. A jump of just 1mm on a line is very noticeable when viewed at less than a foot, but you will not see it at all from across the room. To demonstrate this to yourself, watch your TV from the same distance as you watch your monitor.
