Well said, Gerry and Greg. I'm also glad THS didn't take a buy-out offer. I bought my small position in THS as a long-term Internet software play, and I'll be happy to hold on for a few more years to see if it comes to anything.

On the other hand---and this should comfort those who wish THS had been bought out---we shouldn't automatically assume that just because one buy-out offer was spurned there will be no future offers.

Keep in mind the big picture: THS makes software (LiveStage) that can spruce up boring web sites by adding interactivity. Macromedia also makes such software (Flash), but it costs more and has a steeper learning curve.

IMHO, people are getting pretty bored with the static (but sometimes animated) GIF files that web designers are presently using in their advertising banners. Many people have installed ad-blocking software to filter out these boring/annoying ads (I know I have!) However, an ad that uses QuickTime sprites to, for instance, make animated characters react to your mouse pointer would be interesting enough to really grab the viewers' attention and draw them further into the web site, generating more clicks and advertising dollars.

Even if the above scenario doesn't translate into profits for THS, the software design team is obviously quite talented and would presumably either come up with another more profitable product, or else be bought out by the likes of MSFT, MACR or ADBE.

Anyway, that's how I see things. No need to panic.
