the statement should have been qualified. all things being equal, for long term appreciation and equal relative value for each holding, you're obviously correct. for weighted purchases, i.e., holding 1000 shares of AOL vs. 1000 shares of Dell, I'd rather lose $1.5 than $5 1/2. weighted holdings, in the case to which I was referring, actually, pertains more to hedging/margin. i apologize for the confusion. posting on the internet is not my idea of pleasure. unfortunately, they've set me in this desk to view this screen daily. are you short or long?
