Right! From the legal front: This is one analyst we don't have to worry about:
SEX, LIES AND E-MAIL. A former analyst filed suit yesterday against Morgan Stanley Dean Witter for $1.35 billion in the latest chapter of a salacious tale that reads like an episode of The Practice. Back in April 1998, Morgan Stanley sacked investment analyst Christian Curry. The company said he got canned for misusing his expense account on nudie clubs. But Curry said it was because he's black and because kinky pictures of him taken during his college days appeared in the gay magazine, Playguy, without his permission. The case took a strange high-tech twist last August when police arrested Curry for allegedly trying to hire a hacker (actually an undercover NYPD detective) to break into Morgan Stanley's computers and place antigay and racist e-mails on the system, all in an attempt to give his case a boost But on Tuesday, the D.A. abruptly dropped the charges against him and alleged that Morgan Stanley had secretly handed Curry's college chum Charles Luethke $10,000 as payment for putting the disgruntled employee in touch with the cop posing as a hacker. Now the Manhattan D.A has trained its sights on Morgan Stanley and Luethke, who made the following cryptic remark to the New York Observer: ""There was a lot more money involved. It was intended for the cops, and (the D.A.) and the mayor knew what was going on. I am just waiting for the F.B.I. to make their move." Yikes! Morgan Stanley stock fell 3 3/16 to close at 95 13/16
