Actually, with respect to ex dividend date, you need only buy the day before. Buy date not settlement date, I believe, drives the ex dividend issue. (As opposed to settlement date for date of record) In either event, trying to time that is the ultimate guessing game. I would just pick a price you're comfortable with and buy and then wait. Does anyone know the level of restriction that would be placed on the TIPS dividend? normal 144 rules? TG
