Maurice, I hate to disagree with you, but I think that the biggest majority of delay for any of these satellite phones is in the voice encoding circuitry and that is in the ballpark of 100 milliseconds. The terrestrial delay is negligible, typically less than 10 milliseconds. Round trip time to a geo satellite is about 225 milliseconds.

Second topic. I have a friend who routinely plots the position of the G* satellites using the NASA database and he has indicated to me that one of the satellites in the last launch does not have a normal ephemeris. Has there been any indication from G* that one of the satellites from the last launch has a failure? I have seen or heard nothing, so the information is not validated.
