Hi Carole, my 2¢ worth.
<<<switching screens, how many browsers can you run at a time, what stock alert programs you find to be the best for news and preset parameters on vol and price. I am sure there must be lots of shortcuts and tricks to share.>>>
I don't have Stock Alerts and most of the other goodies , but I do like to have,
On my #2 monitor, 2 charts (½ each of Orcle & Dell, R/T IQC On my #1 monitor, PC Quotes R/T. Minimized I have, Askresearch.com Options on Dell & Orcle 5 min delay. Free. SI, inbox, and maybe 2 or 3 more web sites I may be reading.
I am not a Day Trader but rather, sell covered calls. If I can sell ,say, 5 Dell covered calls for 12/1500 per month, I have his money in my pocket. Say I sell calls at a peak (charts & Options) help with this for 2.00. Now the stock dips and the calls are only worth 1.00. I can buy them back and have doubled my option money, RIGHT? If I buy the calls (OK if the stock is on lower BB and sell when stock peaks/spikes). Then reverse system.
Moral, Buy for a dollar, sell for 2 dollars, double your money. However you are using your money. Sell for 2 dollars, buy back for 1 dollar, double your money. Using his money.
You have to own the stock should it's called on third Friday of the month. Options moves slow enough to jump on and off most of the time. Generally under 10 options you can sell at ask, buy at bid. Sure helps my Soc. Sec. I don't have to watch monitor unless I want to day trade options. Good to have quality stocks, not always the case. They dip and the waiting game kicks in.
